The fantasy wasn't too violent. The characters worked for me too.I am anxious for the next in series because it will be on top of my to buy list. They reminded me of the early Mercedes Lackey books. I'm not usually one for traditional fantasy, but I thought Poison Study was quite decent. Magic Study didn't work for me because of the travelling quest, and the more magical things are the less interested I become. Still, I hope to track down Fire Study at my library at some stage. I read a wide variety of books too and you just have to find the right book for what you are in the mood for.
